January Pick-Me-Ups

Image weheartit.com

January: the Monday morning of the year. The collective post-Christmas stupor is palpable and our festive wardrobe has become redundant for another year. Despite the New Year’s distinct lack of sparkle, however, it is still possible to create a chic winter look without the glitz and rich colour palettes associated with the festive period. Here are my selected monochrome January pick-me-ups to give you a helping hand:

1) Kasbah blanket scarf – Accessorize, £19

For Winter accessories, Accessorize cannot be beaten. There are currently a selection of beautiful ‘statement’ scarves in a wide range of vivid colours, but I’m personally a fan of this muted grey palette. Drape this oversized layer over your jumper or coat for an instantly cosy and classy winter look.
2) Kate Spade 17 month organiser – John Lewis, £30

 A diary is an essential New Year’s purchase. This Kate Spade organiser would make a sophisticated addition to any handbag.
3) Gary Birks key handle coffee mug in bronze – GB eBay shop, £22

The back-to-work blues are still in full swing and coffee is being drunk by the gallon. Ditch the paper cups in favour of a stylish coffee mug. When you’re not getting your caffeine fix it’s perfect as a desk accessory!
4) La Prairie white caviar illuminating hand cream 100ml – John Lewis, £106
This product definitely does not fall under the ‘affordable’ category but after sampling some La Prairie exfoliator recently I couldn’t resist including the brand on my list.  The cold Winter months wreak havoc with the condition of our skin and this cream is a perfect remedy for dry, weathered hands. The prices may make you wince, but the products truly deliver. For more budget-friendly alternatives, however, check out Liz Earle and L’Occitane.
5) MAC strobe cream – Debenhams, £24.50

The MAC strobe cream has got to be my favourite beauty purchase of 2015. Massage a dollop of this all over your face before applying your foundation for an instantly revitalized look. Perfect for eliminating signs of dull, fatigued skin and maintaining a dewy glow. Goodbye weary January mornings.

6) Geo stacking ring set – Z for Accessorize range, £15

The ‘Z’ range pieces at Accessorize create the look of high-end, fine jewellery at a fraction of the price. The gold plating and cubic zircona stones add a touch of luxe to any outfit.

7) Connie snake bowler bag – Accessorize, £37

Because you can’t beat a classy black handbag for work or play.
8) Stila Stay All Day liquid lip colour in Dolce – Marks and Spencer, £16

Liquid lipsticks are currently the flavour of the month and my favourite of the bunch is this Stila lip colour in the shade ‘Dolce’. It adds a bold, creamy finish whilst hydrating and softening the lips. Everyone knows that winter winds + long hair + glossy lips = disaster, so this long-lasting matte lip colour is ideal for this time of year.
~~~9) Mask of Magnanimity 125g – Lush, £5.75
Another skincare product: this time far more budget-friendly! Lush’s Mask of Magnanimity is my favourite face mask for combating blemishes and dryness. Simply apply all over your face and unwind for ten minutes for a relaxing quick-fix. Wash off and voila! Nourished, silky skin.
10) Rose gold complete brush set Vol. 1 – Zoeva, £100
Make up brushes looking a little shabby? Why not splash out on a complete new set. This set of 15 brushes by Zoeva complete with zip bag is a statement accessory for a beauty lover’s dressing table.
11) Smart gloves – Accessorize, £12
You can stay glued to your smart phone without exposing your hands to the elements with these touchscreen gloves. Scroll and tap away without feeling the cold.
12) Pomegranate large candle 740g – The White Company, £40
A beautiful, calming scent to add a little warmth to dark January evenings.
13)Peony and blush suede cologne 100ml – Jo Malone, £85
A luxurious and refreshing scent that will give you that much-needed boost in the morning.
